Barbara E. Reed, 82 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 2:19 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2008 at her daughter's residence located in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Barbara was born on Saturday, October 9, 1926 in Sullivan, Indiana the daughter of the late Ruben B. Worth and the late Maggie L. (Wright) Worth. Her first husband was Max L. French and he passed away while serving his country in France. Her second husband was Frederick E. Reed, marrying on August 8, 1948 in Churubusco, Indiana and he passed away on October 11, 1995. Barbara was a member of East Liberty United Methodist Church in rural Monroeville, Indiana; and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Barbara enjoyed sewing, traveling, flower gardening, ceramics, friends, and family. In Barbara's earlier years, she was a beautician at Gerry's Beauty Salon in Napoleon, Ohio and also at Hutner's Paris Beauty Salon in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Balls Department Store Beauty Salon in Marion, Indiana; and was also a homemaker. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Khris (Rita J.) West of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, son, Frederick D. "Rick" (Thalia "Faye") Reed of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Delores "Dee" Alumbaugh of Marion, Indiana, ten grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Barbara in death was one brother, Emery Worth and two sisters, Chole Davis and Irene Wilmes. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in the East Liberty United Methodist Church with Rev. Barry McCune and Rev. Ralph Klinker officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery, Monroeville, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana and from 10:00 a. m. to service time Wednesday at the church. An Eastern Star Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana-Berne; or Alzheimer's Association.
