Gary L. Jeffrey, 59 of Decatur, died at 4:25 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2006 at the Adams Memorial Hospital following a 5 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He had been admitted to the hospital earlier that day. Gary was born in Decatur on February 2, 1947 to Donald P. and Olga (Schueler) Jeffrey. His mother preceded him in death in February of 2003 and father survives. He was baptized at home on February 26, 1961 with Adolph and Marcus Schueler serving as his sponsors. Gary was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble where he was confirmed on March 26, 1961 with John 5:24 serving as his confirmation verse. It was also at St. Paul, Preble where he was united in marriage to Connie S. Wiegmann on May 15, 1981. Gary retired in 2000 from Navistar in Fort Wayne after many years of service and was currently employed by Utility Trailers of Fort Wayne. Gary is survived by his wife of 25 years, Connie S. Jeffrey of Decatur; father, Donald P. Jeffrey of Decatur; two daughters and their husbands: Lisa & Dave Roemer of New Haven, Indiana and Cathy & Brian Terhune of Fishers, Indiana; one son: Kevin Jeffrey of Decatur, one sister: Mrs. Ron (Janine) Thieme of Decatur, and 5 Grandchildren: J.T. Roemer, David Roemer, Jensen Jeffrey, Mackenzie Terhune, and Kennedy Terhune. Gary was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Jeffrey on December 14, 1991 and a grandson, Conner Terhune on August 15, 2002. Funeral services for Gary will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 26, 2006 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble with Pastor Daniel Brege officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family will be received from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to services on Friday at church. Preferred memorials for Gary are to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, or St. Peter " Immanuel Lutheran School.
