Ruth L. Macklin, 91 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2006 in the Village of Heritage located in Monroeville, Indiana. She was born on Saturday, January 2, 1915 in Decatur, Indiana the daughter of the late Harve Elzey and the late Margaret (Beam) Elzey. She married the late Richard J. Macklin Sr. on July 23, 1938 in LaGrange, Indiana. He died on January 1, 1993. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Decatur where she was in the Women's Association of the church. She was also a member of the Psi-Iota Xi Sorority and Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth was named Miss Adams County 1936 for the Centennial Celebration. She was homemaker. Surviving are her son, Larry D. Macklin of Decatur, Indiana, son, Richard J. "Jack" Macklin of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Jayne) Burman of Decatur, Indiana, eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Ruth in death were one son, Thomas M. Macklin, one brother, Joe Elzey, three sisters, Heretta Stump, Romayne Keller & Delores Shraluka, and one granddaughter, Monica Ann Macklin. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Lora Sherwood officiating. There will be a private burial in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, July 15 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home. Preferred memorials are to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
