Edward Hockemeyer, 89 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011 in the Village of Heritage. He was born on Monday, August 15, 1921 in Allen County, Indiana the son of the late William F. Hockemeyer and the late Clara (Thieme) Hockemeyer. He married Catherine M. Springer on September 17, 1944 and she passed away on March 4, 2010. Edward was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock in Monroeville and was a lifelong farmer. Surviving are his daughter, Sharon A. (David) Schlaudroff of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Duane E. (Verna) Hockemeyer of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Robert A. (Julie) Hockemeyer of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Carl L. (Diane) Hockemeyer of Wolcottville, Indiana; sister, Arnita Schroeder of Hoagland, Indiana; twelve grandchildren: Amy Arnett, Joy Selking, Dean Schlaudroff, Leslie Leitch, Kelly Shelburne, Joni Boyle, James Hockemeyer, Heidi Sims, Andrew Hockemeyer, Rachel Hockemeyer, Sarah Noble, and Adam Hockemeyer; nineteen great-grandchildren: Alexis Arnett, Jazmyn Arnett, Kayla Selking, Alyssa Selking, Emily Selking, Evan Selking, Owen Schlaudroff, Eleanor Schlaudroff, Nicole Rothgeb, Lauren Rothgeb, Carson Rothgeb, Grace Shelburne, Taylor Shelburne, Brooke Shelburne, Brandon Boyle, Brady Boyle, JoLynn Hockemeyer, Jara Hockemeyer, Ella Hockemeyer; and one step-great-granddaughter, Megan Otto. Preceding Edward in death were two sisters; Elvira Fuelling and Lorinda Koeneman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock with Rev. Douglas Christian officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Flatrock. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 24 at St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock and from 10:00 a.m. until the service time on Wednesday at the church. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock or Village of Heritage. The family would like to thank the staff at the Village of Heritage in Monroeville for the seven years of loving care they gave to Edward.
