Arthur L. Sivits, 65, of Spencerville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:20 p.m. at the Rochester Methodist Hospital (Mayo Clinic), in Rochester, Minnesota following a diagnosis of Amyloidosis (form of bone marrow disease) in June of 2009. He was at the Mayo Clinic for treatments. Art was born on August 18, 1944 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the son of Merle and Wahneetah (Crose) Sivits. Both of his parents preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Milly (Lehman) Sivits on December 16, 1966 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Art was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Europe. He was honorably discharged on August 8, 1971. Art was employed by Foamex Company in Ft. Wayne for 39 years, having been a longtime supervisor at the company. Art attended the Grabill Missionary Church, in Grabill, Indiana for 35 years. Art was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed watching college basketball, playing with children, and helping others. He went on many mission trips through the Grabill Missionary Church over the years, traveling to places throughout the United States. Art is survived by his wife, Milly Sivits of Spencerville, Indiana; 2 daughters: Kristine (Rick) Neff of Louisville, Kentucky and Holli (Tony) Ruble of Monroeville, Indiana; 6 Grandchildren: Ryley, Gavin, Ayden, Alexcia, Natalie, and Ashlyn; 2 brothers: Richard (Kathleen) Sivits of New Haven, Indiana and Max (Mary) Sivits of Kettering, Ohio; a sister: Jean Campbell of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Art was preceded in death by 2 sisters. Funeral services for Art will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2009 in the Grabill Missionary Church with Pastor Bill Lepley officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Leo Cemetery, Leo, Indiana Friends and family of Art will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. on Thursday in the Grabill Missionary Church, 13637 State Street, Grabill, Indiana and one hour prior to services on Friday also in the church.
