Edith M. Green, 93 years old of El Paso, Texas, died at 9:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at her residence. She was a longtime resident of rural Monroe, Indiana before moving to El Paso one year ago. Edith was born Wednesday, January 30, 1918 in Decatur, Indiana, the daughter of the late Harry O. Williams and the late Ruth B. (Baltzel) Williams. She married the late Frank L. Green on February 9, 1946 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and he passed away on May 8, 1998. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur, Indiana; president of the Women's Missionary of the church; taught Sunday School for many years; was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, Decatur Chapter where she served as president; a member of the Order of Easter Star #48 in Bluffton, Indiana and was a Girl Scout leader for several years. She was also a member of the Adams County Heart club and Adams County Coin Club. Edith enjoyed gardening, sewing, and volunteering for various organizations. She was a graduate of Pleasant Mills Highs class of 1935. Edith was a homemaker and had volunteered at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana for 33 years. She had also been employed at General Electric in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Surviving are daughter-in-law, Linda Green of El Paso, Texas; son, Daniel L. Green of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, H. Jean Lowden of Angola, Indiana; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Steve Green and two grandsons, Christopher Green and Joseph Allen Young Sr. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Stuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Ray Cemetery, Monroe, Indiana. Friends will be received from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the First Baptist Church Women's Missionary Society; Adams County DAR; or the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
