Mildred Y. Meese, 97 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2008 in the Village of Heritage located in Monroeville. She was born on Wednesday, May 10, 1911 in Ossian, Indiana. She was married to Robert E. Meese and he passed away in 1967. Mildred was a member of First Christian Church in Fort Wayne. She was active in the former Fort Wayne Women's Club, the Civic Theatre and the Elks Lodge and was a reader for the Northeast Indiana Readers Service. She also enjoyed golfing and was active in the Ladies Golf Association. Mildred received a master's degree in education after attending Ball State University, St. Francis College and Indiana University. She was a school teacher for 43 years retiring from Portage Junior High School in Fort Wayne. Surviving are her niece, Phyllis Chausse of Monroeville, niece, Mrs. Ed (Harriet) Buecler of Monroeville, niece, Kay Weddle of Nashville, Indiana, nephew, Ralph "Buck" Myers of Monroeville and 24 great nieces and nephews. Preceding Mildred in death were three nephews; Jed, Max & Joe Myers and one niece, Jean Justice. A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, December 22, 2008 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel with Rev. Ralph Klinker officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel. Preferred memorials are to Monroeville EMS, Village of Heritage or the Parkview Hospice.
