Steven M. Rhymer, 51 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 3:16 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2009 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Steven was also a former resident of Monroeville, Indiana. Steven was born on Monday, October 14, 1957 in Decatur, Indiana the son of the late Delbert Rhymer and the late Delphina (Lovens) Rhymer. He married Beverly Jane Purcell in 1997 in the East Liberty United Methodist Church in rural Monroeville, Indiana. Steven was on disability as a result of a long illness. Surviving are his wife, Beverly Jane Rhymer of Decatur, Indiana; son, Jason Brace of New York, New York; daughter, Michelle Rhymer Soto of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Heather Rhymer of Auburn, Indiana; son, Matthew Barnett of Auburn, Indiana; daughter, Sarah Shaw of Antwerp, Ohio; step-son, Marcus Gilbert of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; step-son, Michael Gilbert of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; son, Tyler Rhymer of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; step-daughter, Michelle Sheefel of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister, Susan Rhymer of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Cathy Nichter of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Mrs. Sidney (Nancy) Vaught of Leo, Indiana; brother, Delbert (Robin) Rhymer Jr. of Avilla, Indiana; and several grandchildren. Preceding Steven in death was one sister, Peggy Ann Rhymer in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2009 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana with the Rev. Barry McCune officiating. Friends will be received from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2009 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals or to the family.
