LaVonne E. (Hobbs) Kreager, 87 years old of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away at 5:55 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur, Indiana. LaVonne was born on October 15, 1919 in Monroeville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Lloyd Joseph Casselman and the late Anna (McCoy) Casselman. She married Robert Norman Kreager on December 16, 1978 in Orlando, Florida and he survives. LaVonne was a member of the St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur, Indiana. She graduated from Monroeville High School Class of 1936. While living in Decatur, she served as Beta Sigma Phi President for 2 years, organized the first Polio Mothers March, served as Chairman of the Polio Foundation where she organized all townships in Adams County, Indiana. While living in Hoagland, Indiana, she served in the Democratic Party as Precinct Committeewoman and Ward Chairman for 23 years. LaVonne had been a nurse at the Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana for 18 years and had been the store manager for the Hallmark Card & Gift Shop in Decatur. Surviving are her husband, Robert Norman Kreager of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Mrs. Roy (Sally J.) Minnick of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Mrs. James (Annie M.) Saalfrank of Hoagland, Indiana; son, John J. (Lorrraine) Hobbs of San Diego, California; step-daughter, Mrs. Al (Deborah) Cannon of Lakeland, Florida; step-son, Edward Kreager of Hernando Beach, Florida; step-son, R. Michael Kreager of Gervais, Oregon; twelve grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. Preceding LaVonne in death were one son, Larry Lee Hobbs; two sisters, Emma LeFever and Joan Casselman; two brothers, Kevin (Marvin) Casselman and Robert Casselman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2007 in the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Benedict Kakwisi and Deacon Isaac McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery, Monroeville, Indiana. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana and for one hour prior to the Mass in the church on Friday. A Rosary will be conducted Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are Masses, the Monroeville EMS, or Adams Memorial Hospital.
