Vera Jane Adam, 80 years old of rural Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2007 in the Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, following an extended illness. Vera was born on May 2, 1927 in Magley, Indiana, the daughter of the late Milton E. Scherry and the late Ella M. (Worthman) Scherry. She married Arthur W. Adam on July 2,1949 and he survives. Vera was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Magley; Women's Guild of the church; and the American Legion Auxillary; and was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Arthur W. Adam of Decatur, Indiana; son, rick W. (Donna) Adam of Bluffton, Indiana; daughter, Cheryl L. (Darrell) Heyerly of Decatur, Indiana; son, Dennis W. Adam of Huntington, Indiana; brother, Rolland (Nancy) Scherry of Decatur, Indiana; four grandchildren: Joey Ann Adam; Troy Adam; Michelle (Craig) Simon; Adam Heyerly; and one great-grandchild, JadeLyn Olivia Heyerly-Jones. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with the Rev. Jean Carmean officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem U.C.C. Cemetery, Magley, Indiana. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Salem United Church of Christ, Magley.
