Gerald E. Hobbs, 67 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 6:36 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his residence. Gerald was born on Wednesday, August 4, 1943 in Tipton County, Indiana the son of the late Lewis W. Hobbs and the late Naomi Ruth (Newton) Hobbs. He married Wilma L. Carter on December 28, 1968 in Coldwater, Ohio. Gerald was a former member of Covenant Chapel in Bluffton, Indiana; where he served as a deacon and helped with church maintenance. He currently attends the Cornerstone Missionary Church in Decatur, Indiana. Gerald was a graduate of Oakhill High School and retired in December 2008 as a maintenance worker at O & R Precision in Geneva, Indiana. Surviving are his wife, Wilma L. Hobbs of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Alison S. Coons of Bluffton, Indiana; daughter, Angela N. (Anthony) Dickerson of Kirklin, Indiana; son, Timothy W. (Ellen) Hobbs of Bluffton, Indiana; daughter, Teresa J. (Don) Hess of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Herb (Ruth Ann) Hobbs of Alexandria, Indiana; brother, John (Phyllis) Hobbs of Tavaras, Florida; sister, Lelia Douglass of Garden Grove, Iowa; sister, Judy (Russell) Tharp of Kirklin, Indiana; twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Preceding Gerald in death was one brother, Wayne Hobbs. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Beers officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana.
