Don A. Gordon, 76 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 2:23 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at his residence, following an illness of one year. Don was born on Thursday, March 29, 1934 in Churubusco, Indiana the son of the late Alpheus A. Gordon and the late Ruth M. (Roberson). He married Kay A. Zimmerman on July 3, 1982 and she survives. Don was a member of the American Legion Post #420 in Monroeville. Don served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Don retired in 1990 from General Electric in Ft. Wayne, Indiana with 25 years of service as a transformer winder. Surviving are his wife, Kay A. Gordon of Monroeville, Indiana; and children: Robert (Helena) Zimmerman of Monroeville, IN; William (Jill) Rykard of Decatur, IN; James Gordon; Deborah Gordon; Melonie King; Jeffrey Gordon; Sherry Elward; brother, Phil (Marcia) Gordon of Columbia City, IN; sister, Lee Rinewald; sister, Grace Ewald; brother, Wayne Gordon; brother, Dale Gordon; and seven grandchildren: Desirae, Mariah, John, Cody, Lance, Hillary, and Justin. Preceding Don in death was one sister, Martha Pettigrew. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana with Pastor Jonathan Rose officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Monroeville EMS; Parkview Hospice; American Legion Post #420; or Cancer Services of Allen County.
