Bill W. Johnson, 72 years old of rural Monroe, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 in Adams Memorial Hospital, Decatur following a short illness. The death was unexpected. He was born on Friday, March 17, 1933 in Middlebury, Ohio the son of the late William H. Johnson and the late Eva (Boch) Johnson. He married Shirley M. Fox on June 27, 1953 in Salem United Methodist Church. Bill attended Salem Community Church and was a member of the American Legion Post #111 Grover Sheets Post. He was a graduate of Pleasant Mills High School in 1952 and served as a Corporal in the United States Army from July 13, 1953 to May 19 1955, where he was stationed in Germany. Bill retired from Limberlost Sand & Gravel/Berne Ready Mix in 2001 and prior to that he was employed as manager of CLY Gravel/Adams County Gravel. Surviving are his wife, Shirley M. Johnson of rural Monroe, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Tom (Susan) M. Feasel of rural Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Jill A.) Yoder of Monroe, Indiana, sister, Beatrice Hawkins of Marion, Indiana, sister, Mrs. Norm (Dorothy) Hunziker-Auffrey of Zephyrhills, Florida, sister, Shirley Everett of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Mrs. Carl (Jerry) Johnson of Decatur, Indiana, six grandchildren, Joel (Tara) Yoder, John Yoder, Tyler Feasel, Lucas Feasel, Erin Feasel & Aden Feasel and 3 step-great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack & Richard Johnson and five sisters, Mary Royer, Juanita Young, Lorraine Allen, Patricia Simmerman & Betty Jean Johnson in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. James Compton officiating. Interment will follow in the Tricker Cemetery, Monroe, Indiana with Military Graveside Services by Adams Post 43 Colorguard. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 10 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Adams County Community Foundation - Kidney Fund (Honoring Tyler Feasel). Serving as pallbearers will be Joel Yoder, John Yoder, Tyler Feasel, Lucas Feasel, Aden Feasel, Jack Myers, John Myers and Erin Feasel. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Carl Johnson and Larry Myers.
