Gaynel I. Lankenau, 75, of Castle Rock, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday November 2, 2010. Gaynel was born on August 2, 1935 in Decatur, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her parents. She attended Indiana University and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado. Gaynel began her music teaching career in 1959 with the Douglas County Schools. She was still teaching at Arapahoe Community College at the time of her death. She was also the music teacher and choir director for Douglas County High School for 32 years. Gaynel is survived by her long time friend, Rosemary Metzler of Castle Rock, her sisters Gretchen (Tom) Ehler of Sidney, Ohio and Alyce (Bob) Bogan of Decatur, Indiana as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Christs Episcopal Church in Castle Rock, CO at 2:00 PM. Memorials may be made in Gaynels name to Christs Episcopal Church Music Ministry, Castle Rock, CO. Graveside services will be held at the Decatur Cemetery on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana.
