Daniel J. Thompson Sr., 59 years old of Monroe, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at his residence following an extensive and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Sunday, October 15, 1950 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Joseph Albert Thompson and the late Rosetta Orpha (Jones) Thompson. He married C. June Hill on April 15, 1972. Daniel served his country during the Vietnam War. He enlisted in the US Army National Guard in March of 1969 and was honorably discharged in March of 1973. He retired from Rea Magnet Wire (formerly Phelps Dodge) in Ft. Wayne in 2009 following 36 years of service as a production worker. He was a member of North Adams Church of Christ in Decatur. Surviving are his wife, June Thompson of Monroe, daughter, Jackie (John) Krudop of Fort Wayne, son, Daniel J. Thompson Jr. of Monroe, sister, Judy Fraze of Hartford City, sister, Teresa (Jerry) Cramer of Fort Wayne, sister, Rosemary (Charles) Whitaker of Fort Wayne, and five grandchildren; Matthew, Katrina, Jerod & Jordan Krudop and Mia Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Jim Voglewede officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery with military graveside services being conducted by the American Legion Post #43, Decatur. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 8 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home Decatur and one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice and Palliative Care or North Adams Church of Christ.
