Royal D. Bollinger, 80 years old of Tavares, Florida, a former Decatur, Indiana resident, passed away at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 in the Tavares Hospice located in Tavares, Florida. Royal was born on Thursday, March 13, 1930 in Decatur, Indiana the son of the late Arlie Bollinger and the late Pearl (May) Bollinger. He married the late Kathryn Bagley on October 25, 1952 in Van Wert, Ohio and she passed away on September 30, 2006. Royal was a life member of the American Legion Post #223 in Syracuse, Indiana; a life member of the V.F.W. in Decatur, Indiana; a life member of the Disabled American Veterans; and a member of the UAW Local #1404 in Columbia City, Indiana. Royal retired from Dana-Weatherhead Automotive in Columbia City, Indiana in 1988 after 28 years of service. Royal served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts for wounds received in action. Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca A. (Art) Hanson of Tavares, Florida; daughter, Mary Jane (Patrick) Mynhier of LaGrange, Indiana; daughter, Sarah L. (Donald) Grawcock of Syracuse, Indiana; daughter, Deborah Lynn Bollinger of Lacanto, Florida; brother, Ralph (Jody) Bollinger of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Joan Meyer of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Mary (Al) Brune of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Helen Adams of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Preceding Royal in death was one sister, Mildred Florine Snyder. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Decatur Cemetery with the Dr. Rev. Robert Brink officiating. Military Graveside Services will be provided by the Adams Post #43 American Legion. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2576 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.
