Edward C. Ehinger, 91 years old of Clinton, Indiana, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2008 in the Provena Hospital located in Danville, Illinois. Edward was born on Monday, October 1, 1917 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Thomas F. Ehinger and the late Gertrude (Rademacher) Ehinger. He married Eloise C. Leonard and she passed away on December 14, 1996. Edward was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clinton, Indiana; a 50 year member of the K of C; and a member of the American Legion in Portland, Indiana. Edward served his country during World War II in the United States Army where he rose to the rank of Sergeant serving with Battery D of the 789th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. Edward retired from G.C. Murphy Company in 1982. Surviving are his daughter, Suzanne (James) Lambert of Clinton, Indiana, granddaughter, Dana Hisle of Terre Haute, Indiana; granddaughter, Sherry (Kelly) Cheesewright of Chrisman, Illinois; grandson, Mark (Laura) Hisle of Evansville, Indiana; granddaughter, Michelle (Scotty) Curlee of Forest, Virginia; ten great-grandchildren: Hilary Forrest, Krystal Baumgartner, Amy Solis, Cameron Jones, Kelsi Cheesewright, Kenzi Cheesewright, Keaton Cheesewright, Kenna Hisle, Kaylie Hisle, Kobe Hisle; and three great-great-grandchildren: Bentley Norton, Braedon Baumgartner, and Emma Baumgartner; and many caring nieces and nephews. Preceding Edward in death were two sisters, Margaret Zollinger and Virginia A'Hearn; and one brother, James Ehinger. A Prayer Service will be held Monday, January 5, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, followed by a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Dave Voors officiating. Interment will follow in the St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Adams Post 43 American Legion Color Guard. Friends will be received Monday, January 5, 2009 from 12:00 NOON until 1:30 p.m. in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
