Donna E. Carpenter, 87 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 10:02 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2006 in the Village of Heritage located in Monroeville, Indiana. Donna was born on April 15, 1918 in Van Wert County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Cloyd Byer and the late Ada (Lautzenhiser) Byer. Donna was a member of the Monroeville United Methodist Church; Eastern Star; Monroeville American Legion Auxiliary where she held many offices. She was also a homemaker. Surviving are her son, Billy D. (Susie) Carpenter of Monroeville, Indiana, son, Donny R. (Roxann) Carpenter of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Donna was preceded in death by one daughter, Esther Ann Moore in September 23, 2001; two brothers, Harold and Cloyd Byer; and four sisters, Lois McCrory; Fawn Edwards; Louise Byer; and Glenda Byer. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Monday, February 13, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana with the Rev. Janet Luchs officiating. Interment will follow in the Willshire Cemetery, Willshire, Ohio. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Homes, Decatur, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Preferred memorials are to the Village of Heritage; Family Hospice of N E Indiana; or the Monroeville American Legion Post 420.
