Lawrence A. Baker, 90 years old of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2008 in the Saint Anne Home located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Lawrence was born on Wednesday, October 2, 1918 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Floyd Baker and the late Lilah (Lord) Baker. He married Maxine D. Brand on October 2, 1938, his 20th birthday, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and she passed away on June 17, 2006. Lawrence was a member of Summit City Lodge #170 and had been Past Master and past Secretary of the lodge. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, a 33rd Mason, past Most Wise Master and former Technical Stage Director. Lawrence was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1937; and received a B.A. degree from Pudue University. He enjoyed model railroading, electronic's, traveling, and was a Civil War buff. Lawrence served his country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. Lawrence worked at ITT and retired in 1980 from Magnavox Corporation in Ft. Wayne, Indiana as a technical writer. Surviving are his sister, Thelma (Berry) Beckham of Savannah, Georgia, nephew, John L. (Mary Ann) Brand of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Lawrence in death were three sisters, Cahterine Baker, Clara Koughn, Nancy Chamness; and one brother, Harold Baker. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2008 in the St. Anne's Home with Rev. Ted Taykowski officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery located in Wolcottville, Indiana. Military Graveside Services will be conducted. Friends will be received from 1:15 p.m. to service time Monday at St. Anne's Home Chapel with a Masonic Service at 1:00 p.m. Preferred memorials are to St. Anne's Home.
