Elizabeth L. "Betty" Macke, 100 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center. She was born on Wednesday, May 3, 1911 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Charles Kirchner and the late Bertha (Bleeke) Kirchner. She married William Macke on May 3, 1931 and he passed away on January 5, 1990. Betty was a lifelong member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Preble and was a longtime active member of the choir at church. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her son, Fred H. Macke of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Ruth (Curtis) Lee of Garner, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren. Preceding Elizabeth in death were a daughter, Evelyn L. Oetting, a son, Richard Macke, a daughter-in-law, Dee Macke, a sister, Edna Menter, a brother, Edward Kirchner, a granddaughter, Becky Landis and a great-granddaughter, Brooke Oetting. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble with Rev. Daniel J. Brege officiating. Interment will follow in the St Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, February 10 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to St. Paul Lutheran Church - Preble.
