Mary E. Scheumann, 86 years old of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009 in the Towne House Retirement Community located in Fort Wayne. She was born on Saturday, May 19, 1923 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the daughter of the late Gustav Doelling and the late Margaret (Welch) Doelling. She married Herbert L. Scheumann on November 25, 1944 and he passed away on April 29, 1976. Mary was a homemaker and a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Larry (Marcia) Saalfrank of Hoagland, daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Karen) Johnson of Fort Wayne, son, Michael "Mick" (Patti) Scheumann of Hoagland, son, Dr. Gary (Kathy) Scheumann of Auburn, sister, Catherine Whiteman of Ossian, brother, Gustav (Bessie) Doelling of Odessa, Texas, sister-in-law, Gertrude Deister of Hoagland, eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Preceding Mary in death were one grandson, Matthew Scheumann and one brother, James Doelling. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor John Dreyer officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran, Bingen. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen Parish Hall with a brief devotional service to be held at 8:00 p.m. following the visitation. Friends will also be welcome on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen.
