Avis L. "Spud" Weisenburger, 101 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne. She was born on Saturday, August 6, 1910 in Albany, Indiana the daughter of the late Edward Householder and the late Ethel (Spear) Householder. Her first husband was John Wilkins and he preceded her in death in September of 1942. Her second husband was August Weisenburger and he preceded her in death in February 1979. Spud was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Waynedale, Indiana. She was a homemaker and had worked as an elevator operator at Lincoln Natioinal. Surviving are her son, Jim (Marilyn) Wilkins of Fort Wayne, Indiana; step-son, Thomas Weisenburger of Surfside Beach, South Carolina; step-son, James Weisenburger of Kuna, Idaho; twenty-one grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. Preceding Avis in death were a daughter, Jean Wilkins; two step-sons, Charles and John Weisenburger; two brothers, Max & Earl Householder; and a sister, Laverne Bowman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 in the St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Waynedale, with Fr. Lawrence Tetah officiating. Interment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery of Fort Wayne. Friends will be received from noon to 4, Sunday, March 4 in the Elzey - Patterson & Rodak Funeral Home, 6810 Old Trail Road in Waynedale. Preferred memorials are masses to St. Therese Catholic Church.
