David S. Myers

David S. "Dee" Myers, 90 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 8:30 a.m. at a friends home. Dee was born on August 17, 1915 in Adams County, Indiana, the son of the late Sloan W. Myers and the late Lula Inez (Thomas) Myers. He married the late Francile E. Bucher on June 12, 1938 in Adams County, Indiana and she passed away on November 29, 2002. Dee was a member of Decatur Masonic Lodge #571, a 50 year member; Decatur Moose Lodge #1311, a 60 year member; Decatur Elks #933, a 38 years member; a graduate of Monmouth High School; and was one of the founders of Decatur Bank & Trust Company in 1967, where he served on the Board of Directors for 24 years. He was Dee was a co-owner of Liechty & Myers in 1947; in 12950 it became Myers Firestone and in 1954 renamed Myers Home & Auto Supply, retiring in 1980. He was also a former employee of International Harvester and General Electric. Surviving are his son, Dennis L. (JoEllen) Myers of Decatur, Indiana, son, Duane L. (Lou Ann) Myers of Montrose, Colorado, and son, Donald L. (Debra) Myers of Decatur, Indiana, companion, Elma Thieme of Decatur, Indiana and twelve grandchildren. Preceding Dee in death were two sons, David L. Myers, and Daniel L. Myers; three brothers, George, John, & Hugh Myers; and three sisters, Euniece Boughman, Margaret Miller, Mirium Gerke. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with the Rev. Anthony Stidam officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery, Friends will be received from 1-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Mooseheart or the Donors Choice.
