Charlotte L. Giant, 88 years old, a resident of Monroeville, Indiana area all her life, passed away at 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2006 in the Towne House Retirement Community located in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Charlotte was born on October 24, 1917 in Dixon, Ohio the daughter of the late Charles Smith and the late Louise (Gfell) Smith. She married the late Carlton M. Giant on May 25, 1940 in the St. Rose Catholic Church, Monroeville, Indiana and he passed away on June 5, 2003. Charlotte was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon; Harvest House; and the Rosary Sodality. Charlotte was a graduate of Monroeville High School Class of 1935, and she was also a homemaker. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy L. Canull of Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter, Jacqueline A. Mann of Toledo, Ohio, daughter, Mrs. Marv (Jeannine K.) Phillips of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Paul (Beth M.) Kline of Monroeville, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. John (Michelle S.) Thomas of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, son, Stanley C. (Marcia) Giant of Woodinville, Washington, son, Gregory A. Giant of Oakbrooke, Illinois, twenty-three grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Charlotte was preceded in death by seven sisters, Pernetta Linder, Sister Laura Smith, Sister Dorothy Cecile Smith, Erma McArdle, Imelda Doetschman, Neolla Wise, Sister Gertrude Mary Smith; three brothers, Harold, Ralph, and Bernard Smith. A 9:15 a.m. Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon, with the Father Stephen Colchin officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery - Besancon. Friends will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana. There will be a Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to St. Louis Restoration Fund; St. Louis Academy; Masses at St. Louis Church.
