John Thomas Baltzell, 74 years old of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at his residence. He was born on Thursday, March 5, 1936 the son of the late Dent O. Baltzell and the late Eulaliah G. (Steiner) Baltzell. John served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Decatur Masonic Lodge #571; Elks Lodge #2154; and a graduate of Purdue University. He worked 46 years with the U.S. Forest Service. John was a kind and generous man who spent his life in service of the forests he loved. He was a free spirit and lived a life full of adventures. He dearly loved his family and greatly loved in return. He was deeply spiritual and lived a life of faith and service to his beliefs. His passing will be mourned by many who were the recipients of his love and care. Surviving are his sister, Thelma Grace Robinson of Findlay, OH; nephew, David Robinson of St. Francisville, LA; nephew, Robert Robinson of Thermal, CA; niece, June Adams of Lakeside, CA. Preceding John in death were his parents, and great nephew Clayton Still in 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on September 4, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to donor's choice.
