Lydia C. Kalthoff, 103 years old of Monroeville, Indiana and formerly of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2011 in the Village of Heritage. She was born on Monday, March 23, 1908 in Alma, Missouri the daughter of the late Christian Wagner and the late Adelheit (Mueller) Wagner. She married Ernest H. Kalthoff on June 26, 1932 in and he passed away on August 21, 1979. Ernest served as principal of the Friedheim School. Lydia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim and the Tabea Society of the church. She was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress. She also loved to paint and sketch. Surviving are her son, Gene (Linda) Kalthoff of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Patricia A. Kalthoff of Decatur, Indiana; grandchild, Pamela A. (Bill) Blumenherst of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandchild, Kathy J. Kalthoff of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandchild, Amy L. (Brian) Walker of Decatur, Indiana; and six great-grandchidren: Brianna, Brandon, Drake, Hanna, Tanner and Ashlyn. Preceding Lydia in death were two brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2011 in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Friedheim with Rev. Daniel Dahling officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Friedheim. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 14 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim or Family LifeCare.
