Lorena S. Thieme, 78 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 10:46 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at her residence. Lorena was born on May 29, 1929 in Van Wert, Ohio, the daughter of the late Oscar Germann and the late Laura (Merkle) Germann. She married Delmer F. Thieme on April 7, 1951 in Ohio City, Ohio and he survives. Lorena was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Decatur, Indiana, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Lorena was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Society; Merry Mixers Home Economic Club; and a volunteer at Woodcrest Nursing Center for 23 years where she played the organ. Lorena enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sewing, reading, and walking. Lorena was a graduate of Wren High School Class of 1947 and was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Delmer F. Thieme of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Sandra (Lynn) Selking of Decatur, Indiana, son, Ronald L. (Janine) Thieme of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Laurie (Tom) Odle of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Debra (Bill) Brenneman of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, sister, Mrs. Herbert (Betty) Bauer of Van Wert, Ohio, brother, Kenneth R. (Helen) Germann of Plano, Texas, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Preceding Lorena in death was one brother, Robert Germann. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2007 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor David Koeneman officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund; St. Peter Immanuel Lutheran School; ALS Society of Indiana; or donor's choice.
