Edgar A. F. Thieme, 94 years old of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away 12:33 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in the Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on Saturday, January 1, 1916 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Walter Thieme and the late Paula (Bienz) Thieme. He married N. Pauline Hertz on April 13, 1941 in Convoy, Ohio and she survives. Edgar was a longtime active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Decatur, IN; former membership chairman of Indiana Lutheran Layman's League; a member of the Heritage Lion's Club in Hoagland, IN, where he served as past chairman; enjoyed golf, the Chicago Cubs, and the "Nine Mile Mens Breakfast Club". Edgar was a farmer and a salesman for Liby Monuments. Surviving are his wife, N. Pauline Thieme of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Michael L. (Kathleen) Thieme of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Ronald W. (Marcy) Thieme of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Kathleen L. (Ronald) Bultemeier of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Harold (Ellen) Thieme of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Hilda Stoppenhagen- Sassmannshausen of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding Edgar in death were one sister, Ella Dietrich; one great-grandson, Dawson Bultemeier; and one daughter-in-law, Arnita Thieme. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor David Koeneman officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund.
