Jack L. Shady, 82 years old of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 5:35 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008 in the Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jack was born on Tuesday, September 7, 1926 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Hubert Shady and the late Gladys (Corson) Shady. He was first married to Florence "Flo" (Lehrman) Shady. He was later married to Frances M. Rose on October 10, 1992 and she is deceased. Jack was a member of the Decatur Zion United Church of Christ; the American Legion Post #296 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and a former member of the Moose Lodge #1311 in Decatur, Indiana. Jack was an avid bowler before his failing health prevented him from enjoying this past-time. Jack served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force. Jack retired in 1982 from Navistar Final Repair Dept. with 36 years of service and then worked part-time as a truck driver for Ryder Transportation. Surviving are his daughter, Carol (Mike) Terhune of Decatur, Indiana, son, Dennis (Connie) Shady of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Joan Roth of Decatur, Indiana, son, Kenneth Shady of Decatur, Indiana, step-son, Roger (Cindy) Rose of Decatur, Indiana, step-son, Michael (Denise) Rose of Hoagland, Indiana, step-son, Don Rose of Paso Robles, California, half-brother, Fred Peck of Pleasanton, California, seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding Jack in death were one brother, Max Shady and one sister, Virginia Hazelwood. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2008 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Rossman officiating. Friends will be received from 12:00 NOON to service time on Sunday in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Shriners Children's Hospital in Chicago, IL.
