James L. Simshauser, 63 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 20, 2010 near Monroeville. He was born on Wednesday, June 4, 1947 in Winamac, Indiana the son of the late Herman Simshauser and the late Betty (Straw) Simshauser. He married Sandra S. Brames on August 12, 1972 in St. Rose Catholic Church and she survives. James was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, a member of the American Model Airplane Association and the V.F.W. #10205 in Monroeville.He served as a sergeant in the U. S. Air Force during the Viet Nam. He was an avid golfer at the Brookwood Golf Course in Fort Wayne and enjoyed model airplanes. He retired in 2008 as a cable splicer for Verizon Corporation where he had been employed for 36 years. He was also a farmer. Other than his wife, Sandra S. Simshauser, he is survived by son, Rob E. (Marianne) Simshauser of Memphis, Tennessee, son, Tony J. (Angie) Simshauser of Monroeville, son, Jeff D.(April) Simshauser of Monroeville, daughter, Jenn D. (Randy) Linker of New Haven, sister, Marie (Dennis) Thompson of Albany, Indiana, brother, Steve (Denise) Simshauser of Penn Yan, New York, mother-in-law, Iona Brames of Monroeville and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant brother, Lawrence Simshauser. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2010 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Rose Catholic Church Interment will follow in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery. Graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion and V.F.W. Color Guards. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 23 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville with a Rosary following at 8:00 p.m. Preferred memorials are Masses to the church or donations to the Monroeville EMS.
