Ann Mankey, 84 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 2:58 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ann was born on Monday, April 26, 1926 in Munich, Germany the Daughter of the late Klements Wechs and the late Anna Maria (Greindl) Burger. She married the late Glen E. Mankey on August 3, 1948 and he passed away on February 2, 1983. Ann was a World War II Bride-she loved to garden, many enjoyed passing by her Adams Street home to admire her beautiful flowers. She loved her family and celebrating in each one of their life's events, such as visiting the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo; attending graduations; and countless sporting events. Ann also enjoyed collecting Teddy Bears. Christmas Eve at the Mankey home was always Ann's favorite time and some might say she "loved" the jolly old man in the red suit. Ann was a homemaker and had also worked for Dr. & Mrs. Zwick and Dr. & Mrs. Lee. Surviving are her daughter, Erika (Stefan) Schotten of Sella'Alcante, Spain; son, Paul E. (Sue) Mankey of Decatur, Indiana; son, David A. Mankey of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Peggy A. (Randy) Fennig of Decatur, Indiana; son, Arthur R. (Sue) Mankey of Van Wert, Ohio; daughter, Dianna M. (Donald) Budd of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; son, Ted L. (Sherri) Mankey of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Nan K. (Randy) Everett of Decatur, Indiana; son, John W. Mankey of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Ida (Robert) Bower of Toms River, New Jersey; twenty grandchildren, and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. Preceding Anna in death were 1 son, Gregory W. Mankey and 1 grandson, Trevor A. Mankey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Mo Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 12:00 NOON to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Decatur Wrestling Club or the Adams County Animal Shelter.
