William O. Farnsworth, 84 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 9:57 a.m. Sunday at Parkview Emergency Room after being stricken earlier at his home. William was born on Sunday, February 7, 1926 in Antwerp, Ohio the son of the late Clyde Farnsworth Sr. and the late Grace S. (Sunday) Farnsworth. He married the late Beaulah J. Brown on May 12, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas and she passed away on August 18, 2009. William was a member of the East Liberty United Methodist Church of rural Monroeville, Indiana where he had held various offices of the church. He was Justice of the Peace in Monroe Township for 9 years; and served as Assistant Scoutmaster in Monroeville. William was a member of the American Legion Post #420 in Monroeville. He was an active member of the Liar's Club and he enjoyed bowling and golf. William served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1944-1946. William retired in April of 1982 from International Harvester Company with 40 years of service. He also worked for Taylor Distributors in Waynedale, Indiana for 14 years after his retirement. Surviving are his daughter, Joy (Rev.Harold) Klinker of Decatur, Indiana; son, Bradford D. (Ricki) Farnsworth of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Douglas E. (Alison) Farnsworth of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Jeanne S. (J.W.) Ragland of Cottontown, Tennessee; sister, Ruth N. Ferguson of Birch Run, Michigan; brother, Richard L. Farnsworth of Mount Morris, Michigan; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. Preceding William in death were two brothers, Clyde Farnsworth Jr. and Arthur Farnsworth; and two sisters, Ilene M. DeBeauVais and Louise M. McLaughland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in the East Liberty United Methodist Church with Rev. Barry McCune and Rev. Harold Klinker officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. There will be a flag presentation at the cemetery by Legion Post #420. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
