Bertha A. "Bert" Braun, 90 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center located in Decatur, Indiana. Bert was born on Tuesday, March 12, 1918 in Adams County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles Graft and the late Alinda (Zwick) Graft. She married the late Martin G. Braun on June 20, 1942 and he passed away on January 29, 1996. Bert was a member of St. John Lutheran Church Bingen; Ladies Guild and Ladies Aid of the church; and the General Electric ALEX Club. Bert retired in 1982 after 16 years of service with General Electric in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Surviving are her son, Dennis L. (Shirley) Braun of rural Decatur, Indiana, son, Duane Braun of rural Decatur, Indiana, daughter, LaDonna K. (Steve) McBride of rural Decatur, Indiana, brother, Ralph Graft of New Haven, Indiana, brother, Ray Graft of rural Hoagland, Indiana, six grandchildren: Kurt Braun, Kristie White, Kari Braun, Kendra Braun, Todd McBride, and Kelly Harris; and seven great-grandchildren: Tychicus, TaQuay, and TiAuna White, Olivia Braun, Allyson, Rachel, and Kyle McBride. Preceding Bert in death were three brothers, Charles, Don, and Thurman Graft; one brother, in infancy; and one sister, Viola Fisher. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Daniel F. Dahling and Vicar John Wurst officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
