Richard R. ""Blackie"" Rhymer, 79 years old of New Haven, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at his daughter's residence located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Richard was born on October 15, 1927 in Pineville, Kentucky the son of the late Oliver and Nancy Rhymer. Richard was a welder for the Penn Central Railroad and retired after 38 years of service. Surviving are his son, Rick L. (Joyce) Rhymer of Monroeville, Indiana, son, Randy W. Rhymer of New Haven, Indiana, daughter, Mayann I. Surratt of New Haven, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Charles (Rosemary J.) Hissong of Fort Wayne, Indiana, sister, Sally Wilson of Kentucky, twenty grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; his companion, Monica Weaver and her son, Eric (Stephanie) Weaver and their two children. Preceding Richard in death were his former wife, Carol J. Rhymer and two sons, Rodger D.and Richard Eugene Rhymer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana with the Rev. Scott Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery, Monroeville, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Preferred memorials are to Monroeville Fire Department or the Monroeville EMS.
