Ralph L. "Toby" Reef, 81 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in Adams Memorial Hospital follwing an extended illness. He was born on Friday, November 4, 1927 in Adams County the son of the late Adam A. Reef and the late Ruth E. (Butcher) Reef. He married Virginia L. Harrell on January 24, 1948 in Decatur, Indiana. Ralph served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Cornerstone Community Church and the American Legion Post #43, Decatur. He had worked at Adams County Trailer Sales for forty years and Quality Service Center, Inc. for 5 ½ years. Surviving are his wife, Virginia L. Reef of Decatur, son, Thomas L. (Linda) Reef of New Haven, son, Gregory B. (Becky) Reef of Albion, son, Mark S. (Stephanie) Reef of Logansport, sister, Phyllis Rayer of Decatur, sister-in-law, Martha Reef of Decatur, brother-in-law, Ed Summers of Decatur, two granddaughters, four grandsons and four great-granddaughters. Preceding Ralph in death were two brothers, Blaine & Lloyd Reef and one sister, Kathryn Summers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur with Pastor Mark Beers officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. There will be military graveside honors by American Legion Post #43, Decatur. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 18 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.
