Helen I. Morton, 97 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at her son's residence where she had lived for the past four years. She had previously been a resident of the Monroeville, Indiana area most of her life. Helen was born on Sunday, April 17, 1910 in Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late Charles S. Baker and the late Alice I. (Gromeaux) Baker. She married the late Virgil E. Morton on August 3, 1925 and he passed away on October 15, 1977. Helen was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Monroeville, Indiana. Helen had been a clerk and cashier at the former Peoples Drug Store in Monroeville, Indiana for 20 years. Surviving are her son, Larry W. (Beverly) Morton of Yakima, Washington, son, Alan L. (Cheryl) Morton of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Zelda T. Fluttrow of Missoula, Montana, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Preceding Helen in death were one daughter, Joane I. Long in 2007; one grandchild, Debbie Long (8 days old); and one sister, Viola Van Buskirk. The family will have a private funeral service and there will be no visitation. Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice of N E Indiana. Funeral arrangements were conducted by Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.
