Lawrence L. "Larry" Cagnet, 63 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was hospitalized one day following complications from an earlier surgery. He was born on Sunday, September 13, 1942 in Allen County, Indiana the son of the late Oris N. Cagnet and Betty J. (Hoelle) Cagnet. He married Jeraldine E. Cagnet on June 22, 1960 in Kentucky. Lawrence was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He coached basketball for the Catholic Youth Organization for 28 years; thirteen years at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville and 15 years at St. Charles Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. While coaching he lead the St. Rose team to a Championship in 1976 and the St. Charles team to three Diocesan Championships. He loved to fish and hunt, but his family always came first. He retired in 1998 from Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire following 34 1/2 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Jeraldine E. Cagnet of Fort Wayne, Indiana, mother, Betty J. Cagnet of Fort Wayne, Indiana, daughter, Anne A. Cagnet of Fort Wayne, Indiana, son, Chris L. (Natalie) Cagnet of Fort Wayne, Indiana, son, Kevin F. (Maureen) Cagnet of Angola, Indiana, son, Chad M. (Robyn) Cagnet of Fort Wayne, Indiana, son, Larry K. (fiance' - Heather) Cagnet of Fort Wayne, Indiana, sister, Becky J. Wilson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, brother, Steve F. (Monica) Cagnet of Jacksonville, Florida, sister and brother-in-law, Sherry J. and Dale Lucas of Cincinnati, Ohio. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Adam, Jackie & Drew Cagnet, Ashley Everidge, Eric Connelly and one expected grandchild due in January 2007. Preceding Lawrence in death was one daughter, Lisa J. Cagnet. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006 in the St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Colchin officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, June 16 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Catholic Youth Organization.
