Dalton E. Jones, 68 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born on Monday, November 20, 1939 in Martin County, Indiana the son of the late Esco V. Jones and the late Alta M. (Allbright) Jones. He married Mary Jo Arvin on August 29, 1958. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1311 in Decatur, Sons of the American Legion, Eagles Aerie in Shoals, Indiana, and was a longtime supporter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired in 1991 from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana after 31 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jo Jones of Decatur, Indiana, son, Bill Jones of Columbus, Indiana, three daughters; Constance Lathey of Pikeville, Kentucky, Valerie (Wade) Hooten of Columbus, Indiana & Angela (Mike) Wagner of Decatur, Indiana, two nephews; Michael & Jeff Jones of Shoals, Indiana, two nieces; Jenny Hembree & Lorna Clark of Shoals, Indiana, sister-in-law, Monica Jones of Shoals, Indiana, eight grandsons and one granddaughter. Preceding Dalton in death was grandson, Shawn E. Jones, sister, Betty Jean Byers and brother, Loren V. Jones. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008 in the Queen - Lee Funeral Home in Shoal, Indiana. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John Randall officiating. Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana, American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.
