Michael Joseph Drake, 40 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away 3:37 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2007 in the Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana as a result of injuries sustained in a fire early Friday morning. Michael was born on May 3, 1967 in Decatur, Indiana, the son of the late Danny A. Drake and the late Sandra J. (Osborne) Drake. He married Alicia R. Drake on September 28, 1996 in North Carolina and she survives. Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal. Michael was a steelworker at Steel Dynamics Inc. in Columbia City, Indiana in the melt shop; and a former employee at Sealy Mattress Company in North Carolina as a production worker. Surviving are his wife, Alicia R. Drake of Fort Wayne, Indiana, daughter, Bianca Drake of Salisbury, North Carolina, daughter, Courtney Drake of Salisbury, North Carolina, daughter, Savannah Drake of Fort Wayne, Indiana, daughter, Taylor Drake of Fort Wayne, Indiana, brother, Butch (Tamra) Drake of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sister, Anita Drake of Appling, Georgia, sister, Tonya Deitsch of Berne, Indiana, sister, Bobbie McAtee of Howe, Indiana, and sister, Danette (Chad) Von Gunten of Berne, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Adams Post #43 American Legion Color Guard. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Victory Junction Gang Camp For Children.
