Mary M. Ruhl, 89 years old of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010 in the Village of Heritage located in Monroeville, Indiana. Mary was born on Sunday, March 20, 1921 in Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late Alfons DeKoninck and the late Elisa Elizabeth (Verstarte) DeKoninck. She married the late Enos E. Ruhl on November 28, 1942 in Monroeville, Indiana and he passed away on April 21, 1992. Mary was member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessen Cassel in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was also a member of the Hoagland Area Adavancement Association. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her daughter, Carol (Dennis) Young of Huntington, Indiana; daughter, Helen (Vernon) Hedington of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Clara (Jesse) Serna III of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Kathy (Larry) Minich of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Ruth (Chuck) Litchfield of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Donna (John) Garner of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Lorie (Dan) Hammond of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Frank (Phyllis) DeKoninck of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; brother, Charles DeKoninck of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Clara Macy of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; 21 grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Mary in death were three brothers, Art, Joe, Dale DeKoninck; one two sisters, Laura Rauch, Marguerite Rauch; and one daughter, Margaret Ruhl. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church-Hessen Cassel with Father Thomas Lombardi officiating. Interment will follow in the St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hessen Cassel. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Preferred memorials are to St. Joseph Restoration Fund; Hoagland EMS; or The Village of Heritage in Monroeville, Indiana.
