Donald Holloway

Donald Holloway, 73 years old of Willshire, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne, Indiana following a brief illness. Don was born on Thursday, May 16, 1935 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late J. Clayton Holloway and the late Lula B. (Meshberger) Holloway. He married Glenda L. Johnson on July 20, 1957 in Pleasant Mills, Indiana and she survives. Don was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur, Indiana; U.S.S. DeHaven Sailors Association; served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1961 in the Pacific. Don was an active member of his church, serving as an Elder and Deacon and was currently on the Pastoral Relations and Stewardship Committees. Don retired from I.T.T. Aerospace Optical Division. Later he worked at Farmers Grain and Feed in Willshire, Ohio; Glenmore Farmers Grain/Mercer Landmark in Van Wert, Ohio; and was a Van Wert Co. Ohio and Adams County Indiana farmer. Surviving are his wife, Glenda L. Holloway of Willshire, Ohio, son, Mike (Darlene) Holloway of Willshire, Ohio, daughter, Shelly (Steve) Holden of Convoy, Ohio, daughter, Jean (Jeff) Leary of Willshire, Ohio, nine grandchildren: Becky & Alex Holloway of Willshire, Ohio; Derek, Ashley, & Matt Holden of Convoy, Ohio; Nick, Olivia, Hannah, & Emma Leary of Willshire, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Don in death was one brother, Howard Holloway and one sister, Wava McAlhaney. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2009 in the Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. Randy Rossman officiating. Interment will be in the Willshire Cemetery in Willshire, Ohio. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by American Legion Post #43 Color Guard of Adams County. Friends will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2009 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Preferred memorials are to Zion United Church of Christ or the U.S. DeHaven Scholarship Fund.
