Ruth Blakey, 94 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2006 in the Van Wert County Hospital located in Van Wert, Ohio. She was born on May 1, 1912 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Jacob Fuelling and the late Mary (Reichart) Fuelling. She married the late Hugo C. Blakey on October 22, 1933 in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling and he passed away in December 1997. Ruth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and LWML. She was a homemaker; after graduating from Monmouth High School in 1929, she was employed by General Electric and then Wayne Knitting Mills in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Carl (Elaine) Thieme of Decatur, Indiana, son, Marlin (Nancy) Blakey of Decatur, Indiana, five grandchildren: Kenneth (Susan) Thieme of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Dr. Douglas (Erin) Thieme of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Janet (David) Honeywell of Decatur, Indiana; Sara (Chris) Mowery of Decatur, Indiana; Marc Blakey of Decatur, Indiana and six great-grandchildren: Megan Thieme, Derek Thieme, Mitchell Thieme, Maureen Thieme, Ryan Thieme, and Kathleen Thieme. Preceding Ruth in death were one grandson, Christopher Blakey, half sister, Minnie Scherer, and five brothers, Carl, Oscar, Gustau, Herbert, and Martin Fuelling. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2006 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Decatur, Indiana with Pastor Daniel Dahling and Vicar Conrad Oehlert officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Peter Immanuel School, or donor's choice.
