Clara F. Koughn, 80 years old of Decatur, Indiana and formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at her residence. She was born on Thursday, September 24, 1925 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the daughter of the late Floyd W. Baker and the late Lilah G. (Lord) Baker. She married David Cox in 1963 and he passed away in 1969. She was then married to Ernest Koughn in 1974 and he died in 1979. Clara was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Fort Wayne, Indiana where she was involved in the Stephan Ministries. She was a member of Gold Star Mothers of Fort Wayne where she was the former state president and Mothers of World War II of Fort Wayne where she was a former state president. She was a former president of the VFW of Columbia City, Indiana and involved with the Hospice of Allen County, which is now called Heartland Hospice. Clara was a volunteer at the VA Hospital where she received three consecutive Volunteer of the Year Awards. She also received Employee of the Year Award for four years for Nursing Services. Clara loved cats, ceramics, crafts and reading. She retired in 1994 after 40 years of service in nursing. Surviving are her son, Jim Cox of Decatur, Indiana, granddaughter, Ashlie Cox of Columbia City, Indiana, brother, Lawrence A. Baker of Fort Wayne, Indiana, sister, Thelma Beckham of Savannah, Georgia, special friend, Elma Neiman of Fort Wayne, Indiana, special friend, Phyllis Francis of Fort Wayne, Indiana, special friend, Karen Huffine of Decatur, Indiana, and special friend, David Blackford of Decatur, Indiana. Preceding Clara in death were one son, Lawrence K. "Larry" Tuttle; who was killed in action in 1968 during the Vietnam War and two sisters, Catherine Baker and Nancy Chamness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Eugene W. Brunow officiating. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 10 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to Heartland Hospice.
