William H. "Bill" Johnson, 78 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 3:55 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur, Indiana. Bill was born on Wednesday, March 2, 1932 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Adam O. Johnson and the late Hazel (Cook) Johnson. He married Rose Marie Thatcher on August 10, 1949 and she passed away on August 6, 1974. He married Kay Ann Witte on May 9, 1981 and she survives. Bill was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Decatur and attended Lake George Chapel while working in the Lake George area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Sunday afternoon motorcycle rides, bowling, woodworking, and teaching his patience and wisdom to everyone in his life. Bill worked as a tool & die maker for Decatur Industries for 24 years and a master boat mechanic for 10 years at Lake George Marina. He then worked part-time for his son as a mechanic at Johnson's Auto Sales and operated a boat repair service. Surviving are his wife, Kay Ann Johnson of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Pamela (Ron) Greenwood of Middlebury, Indiana; son, Robert (Connie) Johnson of Convoy, Ohio; son, Dennis (Patricia) Johnson of Decatur, Indiana; son, Duane (Devone) Johnson of Monroe, Indiana; daughter, Denise (Joe) Davis of Decatur, Indiana; son, Mark Johnson of Fremont, Indiana; daughter, Kristi (Jeremy) Kershner of Decatur, Indiana; step-son, Kerry Baumgartner of Garrett, Indiana; step-son, Kevin (Penny) Baumgartner of Decatur, Indiana; step-daughter, Kendra (Robert) Mendez of Decatur, Indiana; nephew, Rex Thatcher of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Alvin J. (June) Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister, Catherine German of Van Wert, Ohio; sister, Patsy Sites of Van Wert, Ohio; twenty-one grandchildren: Jeffery Steele, Tyler Steele, Benjamin Steele, Charles Foehl, Elizabeth Rhoades, Michael Johnson, Craig Johnson, Chad Johnson, Adam Johnson, Eric Davis, Marah Davis, Jessica Johnson, Angelica Valle, Kristina Valle, Jerrid Kershner, Kenzie Kershner, Dane Baumgartner, Drew Baumgartner, Kayla Baumgartner, Austin Mendez, Ty Mendez; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Samantha Kane Steele, Jack Steele, Kathryn Steele, Claire Steele, Grace Steele, Avery Foehl, Megan Foehl, Owen Johnson, Gavin Johnson, Lily Kate Johnson, Sam Johnson, Sophie Johnson, Madeline Davis, Kendall Ohler. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor David Koenemann officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Decatur, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Alzheimer's Research; or A.C.C.F.-Cancer Fund.
