W. Gordon Jackson, 94 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 9:39 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2008 in the Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Gordon had been in failing health for 3 years. Gordon was born on Wednesday, March 12, 1913 in Monroeville, Indiana, the son of the late John M. Jackson and the late Jessie (Griffin) Jackson. He married Dorotha M. Peckham on November 5, 1934 in Auburn, Indiana, and she survives. Gordon was a member of the Monroeville United Methodist Church; former Trustee & Board Member of the church; member of the church Building Committe; church choir member; former Town Board Member; former member of East Allen County School Board; Scout Master of Troop 52 for many years; Masonic Lodge #740 F & AM; and a Monroeville High School Graduate of the Class of 1931. Gordon retired in 1979 as owner/operator of Jackson Insurance Agency in Monroeville after 17 years of service. He had previouly worked at General Electric in Ft. Wayne, Indiana for 20 years. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Dorotha M. Jackson of Monroeville, Indiana, daughter, Sarah L. Nash of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, son, Thomas B. (Roberta J.) Jackson of Indianapolis, Indiana, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. Preceding Gordon in death were one brother, Edwin M. Jackson; and one sister Pauline Andrews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana with the Rev. Denise Lapsley officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery, Monroeville, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to service at the funeral home on Friday. Preferred memorials are to Monroeville United Methodist Church or the Monroeville EMS.
