Evelyn L. Oetting, 78 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne. She was born on Thursday, January 28, 1932 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late William E. Macke and Elizabeth L. (Kirchner) Macke. She married Henry O. Oetting on December 18, 1953 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble and they just celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary. Evelyn was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen where she served on the Altar Guild and was a past member of the church choir and The Lutheran Chorale. She retired in 2003 with seventeen years of service as the secretary for St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen. She had also previously worked at Lincoln Life. Surviving are her husband, Henry O. Oetting of Decatur, son, Carey W. (Camille) Oetting of Decatur, son, Ronald E. Oetting of Decatur, mother, Elizabeth Macke of Decatur, brother, Frederick Macke of Decatur, sister, Ruth (Curtis) Lee of North Carolina, eight grandchildren; Bryan Oetting, Jennifer Garringer, Brett Oetting, Doug Oetting, Corey Oetting, Alyssa Corral, Eli Hill & Carly Oetting and five great-grandchildren; Leah Oetting, Kevin Oetting, Lexi Garringer, Chevelle Oetting & Jordan Strickler. Preceding Evelyn in death were one brother, Richard Macke and one granddaughter, Brooke Marie Oetting. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor John Dreyer officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery , Bingen. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, December 27 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen or Worship for Shut-Ins.
