Edward A. Blume, 70 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur, Indiana. He had been in failing health. Ed was born on Friday, April 9, 1937 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Jesse D. Blume and the late Irene W. (Bloemker) Blume. Ed was a 1955 graduate of Monmouth High School. He was a member of the N.R.A. and the Amateur Trap Shooting Association. Ed retired from Navistar in Indianapolis, Indiana after 50 years of service. Ed worked for International Harvester in Ft. Wayne, Indiana before moving to Indianapolis. Surviving are his son, Michael A. Blume of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Sandra J. Allisbaugh of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, brother, Eugene "Gene" (Kris) Blume of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Joan "Jo" (Charles) Fuhrman of Decatur, Indiana, brother, Donald (Sandy) Blume of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Dianne (Samuel) Ortiz of Decatur, Indiana, granddaughter, Samantha Blume, in North Carolina. Preceding Ed in death was one daughter, Pamel Kaye Blume in 1986; two brothers, David J. Blume in 2007 and Jesse D. Blume Jr. in 1996. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2008 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Brink officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem U.C.C. Cemetery, Magley, Indiana. Friends will be received from 1-5 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and from 11:30 a.m. -2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Adams County Community Foundation-Diabetes.
