Charles S. DeKoninck, 76 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 in the Village of Heritage located in Monroeville. Charles was born on Monday, September 10, 1934 in Allen County, Indiana the son of the late Alfonse J. DeKoninck and the late Elizabeth (Verstenete) DeKoninck. He married the late Shirley A. Sorg on August 31, 1957 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church-Hessen Cassel and she passed away on September 14, 2001. Charles was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church-Hessen Cassel. He was a lifelong farmer; previous co-owner of Sunshine Florist for 23 years from 1981-2004; and he also was a dairy farmer. Surviving are his son, Dennis W. (Jeanne C.) DeKoninck of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; son, Ronald C. (Becky M.) Dekoninck of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; son, Jeffrey A. (Cathy J.) DeKoninck of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Lisa A. (Jay) Crisp of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Cheryl L. Williams (fiance, Marty Gaskill) of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Joyce M. (Chris) Ellsworth of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Julie A. DeKoninck of Monroeville, Indiana; brother, Frank (Phyllis) DeKoninck of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister, Clara Macy of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Preceding Charles in death were his parents, three sisters, and three brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church-Hessen Cassel with Father Thomas Lombardi officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Monroeville, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. A Rosary Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are Masses to the church or Monroeville EMS.
