Lois Maxine Girod, 86 years old of Monroe, Indiana, passed away at 2:55 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center located in Decatur, Indiana. Lois was born on Monday, September 25, 1922 in Oblong, Illinois the daughter of the late Lee Roy Foust and the late Ruth Pearl (Earnest) Foust. She married the late Herman Girod on May 11, 1957 and he passed away on November 25, 1980. Lois was a homemaker. Surviving are her daughter, Carol Zimmerman of Ohio City, Ohio; step-daughter, Marlene Schaffner of Willshire, Ohio; six grandchildren: Kelly Shaffner, Lisa Moser, Myra Schaffner, Brian Schaffner, Michelle Breyfogle, and Seth Zimmerman; and eleven great- grandchildren: Adriane Parcel, Amanda Moser, Meredith Gilsinger, Andrew Moser, Skye Shaneyfelt; Dalton Schaffner; Dakota Schaffner, Zebadiah Breyfogle, Aleah Breyfogle, Olivia Zimmerman, and Bryce Zimmerman . Preceding Lois in death were one brother, Don Foust; one step-grandchild, Nathan Schaffner; two son-in-laws, Floyd Zimmerman and George Schaffner. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Compton officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery, rural Decatur, Indiana. Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. " 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice and Palliative Care of Decatur or the Adams County Diabetes Connection.
