Burton C. Huebner, 77 years old of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and formerly of Monroeville, Indiana and Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, passed away at 5:25 a.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011 in the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home located in Fort Wayne following an extended illness. Burton was born on Friday, June 15, 1934 in Monroeville, Indiana the son of the late Otto K. Huebner and the late B. Idell (Noyer) Huebner. He married Sally A. Van Buskirk on June 30, 1956 in the Monroeville United Methodist Church in Monroeville, Indiana. They had celebrated 55 years of marriage last June. Burton was a member of the Monroeville United Methodist Church where he had been President of the Church Council; a member of the Building Committee of the church; and a member of many other groups at the church. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Port Orange, Florida. He was a board member of the Ft. Wayne National Bank-Monroeville; a member of the Monroeville Chamber of Commerce; member of the Monroeville Lions Club; a board member of the Monroeville 4th of July Festival Committee; instrumental in developing Heritage Professional Plaza; developing Villa Nova Estates in Monroeville; and the Village of Heritage Nursing Home. He was active in Florida as a volunteer for the League for the Blind. He was a graduate of Monroeville High School Class of 1952. Burton was the founder and co-owner of Monroeville Box & Pallet Inc. in Monroeville for 45 years, retiring in 1998. Surviving are his wife, Sally A. (Van Buskirk) Huebner of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Jayne A. (Gregory) Staight of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; son, John B. Huebner of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; son, Joel B. (Rhonda) Huebner of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister, Berneta Sherck of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister, Bonell (Kenneth) Kopke of Santa Ana, California; six grandchildren: Amanda, Chelsea, Alisha, Chantelle, Luke, and Joshua. Preceding Burton in death was one brother, Burrel Huebner. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 in the Monroeville United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Hartman officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Preferred memorials are to Cornerstone Youth Center - Monroeville or the Donor's Choice.
